Janice Vanmeter Kenemore
April 8, 1930 -May 20, 2026

Mom grew up in White Oak, Tx. Where her dad, O.T. Vanmeter worked the oil fields. The family moved to Clute in 1945 when her dad was called to preach at First Baptist church in Clute, Texas.

She attended Freeport high school where she was involved in choir and various activities. She has been a member of First Baptist church in Clute since she was a teenager serving the Lord in many capacities. Mom loved to sing with her very pretty and distinct alto voice and in the sixties, she and her siblings recorded a gospel album and were known as the crusader quartet.

Janice married O.D. Kenemore of Clute and they were blessed to have celebrated 40 years together before he passed in 2004. They enjoyed traveling, serving their community, their church and enjoying their family.

One day at a time is how she lived her life to the fullest. God, family, church, music, cooking and entertaining kept her happy and content. She is rejoicing with her lord and savior and having a great homecoming with her family and friends.

Mom, we love you so much and will miss you terribly but you are home and you are whole.

Preceded in death by her husband, O.D. Kenemore of Lake Jackson, Texas; parents, Rev. and Mrs. O.T. Vanmeter of Clute, Texas; brothers, Charles Vanmeter of Friendswood, Texas; Bobby Vanmeter of Sugarland, Texas; sisters, Bethel Vanmeter (infant), Erma Jewel Casey of Lake Jackson, Texas.
