Mildred "Mawmaw" Perry, 88, of Clute, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She is now celebrating Eternal Life and dancing on streets of Glory while singing with an Angelic host in heaven. On February 10, 1924, a beautiful baby girl was born to Casper and Zelma Smith in Dallas, Texas.

She was a teacher to those who searched to know the truth, an evangelist to those who have not heard, a preacher to those who needed to hear the word and a prophet to those who needed direction. She was sweet spirited and faithful to her Heavenly father and ministry. She was devoted to her loving husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was filled with love for God and was upheld with her integrity. She was a great inspiration and touched many lives.

She was preceded in death by parents, Casper and Zelma Smith; her husband of 70 years, Clarence Perry; her son, Clarence "Ronnie" Perry, numerous relatives and friends.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter, Sheila Stevens and her husband, Donald, of Clute, Texas; her daughter, Diane Grant and her husband, Phil, of Foreman, Arkansas; her son, Michael Perry and his wife, Tracy, of Lake Jackson, and her daughter-in-law, Donna Perry, of Lake Jackson, Texas; 15 lovely grandchildren, 26 wonderful great grandchildren and one special great-great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Brazosport Christian Center, 211 South Lazy Lane in Clute, Texas, with the Rev. Cedric Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial, 1038 West Plantation Drive in Clute, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 North Dixie Drive in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mike Stevens, Quint Stevens, Donnie George, Chip Stevens, Damon George, Darrin George, Aaron Stevens, Devin Perry, and Dalton Perry.

"Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall be fresh and flourishing. To declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."

- Psalms 92: 13-15

I am saddening by the loss of your mother. She was so a big part of our growing up on Mobile Lane in Clute. I have such great memories. I send my sympathies to her wonderful family. Knowing she was a Christian gives me comfort as I know it does for you too. Praise God! What a great write up in The Facts. I live in Anchorage Alaska now and cannot attend her service but Joey will take my mother by for the viewing on Sunday. My best to all of you. Warm regards, Suzanne Creswell-Gautney

What an amazing women of God you were. You talked to anyone who would listen about the Lord and invited everyone to church. Thank you for being a part of my life for so many years and acting as grandma for me and my family after mine went to heaven. I loved you very much and am very sad that you decided to leave this Earth. You will be missed greatly. Love Mary

Mildred was one of a kind. She loved to hunt better than anyone I know. Clarence and Mildred would pull into own yard with that Arrow Stream Camper and would stay for a few months, usually around the month of Oct. and hunt until Dec. They were so much a part of family here in Arkansas. I know our family was honored to have known them both. Mildred taught me how to drive a standard in that Old Army Jeep. She was so funny and it was a joy to have them here with us. I remember when Mildred lost her rings hunting and the day my husband found them which was a number of years apart. When Mildred came to my Moms and Dads the last time, she picked up the rings. It was funny because of how hard we had looked for those rings and they fell threw the floor of the jeep and were found laying on top of the jeeps gas tank many years later. My husband thought they were a set of rings for a small child but my brother grab them before he dropped them into the trash. Doug looked at them and said those are Mildred's rings. We have been looking for them for years. So many memories and so many great times. I know we will see each other again in heaven. Know that we love your family and will be praying for you during this time of loss.
