Romie M. Davis, Jr. 92, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 in Houston, Texas.


He was born May 16, 1920 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Romie and Pauline Davis. He was a member of the Corp of Cadets at Texas A&M University Class of 1941.


Romie served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he achieved the rank of Major.


He came to Lake Jackson in 1944 to work as chemical engineer at Dow Chemical Company and retired after 37 years.


He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Jackson.





Romie was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Katherine Dawson.


Romie is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret M. Davis of Lake Jackson,


1 daughter, Katherine Lynn Russell and husband James of Dallas,


1 grandchild: Lauren Stephenson,


2 great grandchildren: Jeffrey Stephenson and Talia Russell.





The family will received friends 10:30 am until service time 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Jackson with Pastor Alan Trafford officiating.



Pallbearers will be Bob Bryant and Lawrence Packard III; Honorary Pallbearers are James Russell, Mark Russell, John Russell, and Robert Russell.


Interment will be at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Rome was always the life of our parties. He had the best stories to tell about our mom, the kids and growing up in the oil fields. He was positive, smart, humorus, and soft spoken. I will miss him and wish I could be there to share memories like he shared at my mom and dad's funerals. Katie
