James Elvis White, of Brazoria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, September 28, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Eudora, Arkansas on October 3, 1936 to Julie Bell Newton and Henry Lee White.

James is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Nettie Ward and Maudie Marcet and one brother, Gordon White.

He is survived by one sister, Marie Watson of Arkansas City, Arkansas, one brother Jesse White, Sr. of Freeport and many nieces and nephews.

James lived in the Brazosport area all of his adult life and was employed by W C Gunnels in Freeport. He was a faithful member of and loved all who attended Velasco Baptist Church in Freeport. James was designated the "Candy Man" at his church and all of the children and adults in the church looked to him for their Sunday morning treats. James also loved his Arkansas Razorbacks and never missed one of their televised games. He also loved bowling and playing pool with his friends in his younger days. James was loved dearly by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed. "Uncle Tootie" will be especially missed for his kind words, sweet disposition and great hugs.

His family will be forever grateful for the loving care given to their brother and uncle by the nurses of the Sweeny Hospital Respite Care Team and the Hospice Care Team. They were wonderful to the end. The family will hold a Memorial Service in Arkansas City and his remains will be buried near his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Hospice Care Team because promoting the wonderful work these people do would be a blessing to our family.
