Valeria (Vera) Kopp, 82, a resident of Woodlake Nursing Center went to be with her Lord on December 5, 2012. She was born on January 11, 1930, on the family farm in Pottsville, Hamilton County, TX to Edwin and Ella Reue Riewe. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church in Pottsville. In 1953, she and her husband, William (Bill), moved to Freeport, TX. She became very active in her church, Grace Lutheran in Freeport. She served in various capacities at the church and was church secretary for over 20 years. In 1989 when Grace Lutheran closed, she and Bill became members of St. Mark Lutheran in Lake Jackson.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 59 years, William (Bill) Kopp; daughter, Gleda and husband, Victor Krueger, of West Columbia; son, Nathan and wife, Linda, of Manor; grandchildren, Bryce and wife, Norma Krueger, of Sugar Land, Alaina Vogel and fiancé, Antony Dunn, of Katy; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Vogel and Abrianna Vogel, of Brazoria; brother-in-law, Oscar Schkade, of Abilene; sisters-in-law, Mildred Riewe, of League City, Shirley Kopp, of Wimberly, and Rosalie Berry, of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her whole family, her parents; brother, Emanuel and wife, Clara; brother, Melvin and wife, Marian; brother, Clarence; and sisters, Cora and Nora; also brothers-in-law, Milton Kopp and Robert Berry.


Funeral services will be at 4 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2012, at St. Mark Lutheran in Lake Jackson. Burial will be on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Pottsville, TX. Visitation will be at Lakewood Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.


Pallbearers are Michael Riewe, Wayne Riewe, Victor Riewe, Louie Matula, John Meiller and Irv Zelade.
