Thersa Verdell McKnight Stifflemire, 89, of Sweeny, Texas, passed away on Monday February, 4, 2013, at Emerus Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas.

She was born on June 18, 1923, in Kelsey, Texas, to Samuel McKnight and Gladys Corilla Luton.



She is survived by her four children, Linda Harkness and husband, Jim of Scottsboro, Alabama, Glenn Stifflemire and wife, Lea of Sweetwater, Texas, Terry Stifflemire and wife, Sharon of Huntsville, Alabama, and Betty Johnston and husband, Gary of Sweeny, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Steve Harkness, Jason Turk, Melissa Pollock, Lisa Polk, Seth Stifflemire, Tera Miller, Tammy Bautsch, Lori Pierce, Sheryl Herrera, Jeffrey Stifflemire, Denise Randolph, Brett Stifflemire, and Amy Stifflemire; 37 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, B.T. Stifflemire; two brothers, Samuel Arthur McKnight and Austin Errol McKnight; and her parents.


Visitation will be at Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Jackson from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Wednesday February 6, 2013.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 2:00p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 502 Southern Oaks Drive in Lake Jackson.


Burial will follow at Restwood Cemetery in Lake Jackson.


Pallbearers include, Steve Harkness, Jeffrey Stifflemire, Jason Turk, Brett Stifflemire, Chandler Pierce and Anthony Herrera.
