Funeral services for Bobby Joe "BJ" Thomas, age 71, of Houston, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Duane Phy officiating.

Bobby Joe "BJ" Thomas went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2013, after a brief illness. He was born to Douglas and Aline "Singer" Thomas Voss on November 13, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas. BJ's dad, Douglas, lost his life paying the ultimate sacrifice during World War II when BJ was three years of age. Because of his young age when his mother married, Millard Voss became the only Dad he ever knew.

BJ enjoyed spending time with his family camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clute and worked for Dow Chemical for 32 + years retiring in 1994. After retirement BJ and his wife Jeri moved to Houston, Texas where he spent the remainder of his life.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Thomas; parents, Millard and Aline Voss; and father Douglas Thomas.

BJ is survived by two children, daughter, Tina Thomas, of Strawn, Texas; son, Roger Thomas and wife, Stacy, of Clute; sister, Denita Klehm and husband, Ronnie, of Lake Jackson; brothers, Norman Thomas, of Houston, Texas; Eddie Thomas and wife, Janie, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Ryan Haagensen, of Houston Texas, Jessica Shirley, of Florida, Reece Thomas and wife, Michelle, of Richwood, Kendall Thomas, of Jones Creek; and one great-grandson, Colton Ray Thomas.

In Lieu of Flowers, please make memorial donations to Cypress Woods Care Center in Angleton, Texas or Houston's Ronald McDonald House www.rmhhouston.org.
