Nan Preston Millikin went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 24, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Lakewood Funeral Home, Clute, Texas, with Father Robert Dohle officiating.

Nan was born in Brunswick, Georgia on November 7, 1927, and at the age of 85, we lost our loving aunt and friend. Nan graduated from St. Vincent's Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida with her R.N. in 1948 and followed with her B.S.N. from Boston College in 1953 and her M.S. in Nursing Administration from St. John's University in 1960. Nan also began studies at Marygrove College where she graduated with a M.A. in Pastoral Ministry in 1987. She retired from nursing in 1986 where she was previously Director of Nursing at Wyandotte General Hospital and Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan. Nan wrote several articles that were published in Michigan Nurse and Supervisor Nurse Magazines in 1968 and 1969.

Nan enjoyed needlework, theater and music and loved to read. She loved reading her Bible scripture and especially enjoyed her loving cat, Isabella. Nan was a very faithful servant of God

She is survived by her nieces, Carolyn McKinnon and husband Bob, Cindy Watson and husband Clay, Barbara Vern and husband Tim; great- nieces Robbi Sparkman, Lauren Kersey, Natalie Vern; great- nephews Kevin Croft, Kyle Watson and Matt Vern; great-great nieces Alexandra, Kerrington, Kayla and great- great nephews Carter Joe and Tyler.

Nan will also be missed by her dear and long time friend, Denise Foose.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry J. Millikin and Nan J. Holcomb, her sister Joan Millikin Stovall and brother-in-law, Robert Stovall.

Her ashes will be scattered at a later date in the Gulf of Mexico and at her childhood home, Fernandina Beach, Florida.

Nan was a lovely person who touched many people with her faith, love, and kindness. I am blessed to have known her.
