William Clyde Moore, Sr. left this earth peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013, at his home in Dallas, Texas. He was 86 years of age. We will celebrate his homegoing at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 8 at First Baptist Church of Clute, with visitation Wednesday, August 7, from 6-8 pm, Lakewood Funeral Home.

Born November 17, 1926 in Leon County (Sawdust), Florida, to John Thomas Moore and Evelyn Wilson Nethery, Clyde grew up in Bayou La Batre, AL. He married his sweetheart, Joicey on July 1,1944. He served his country in the Merchant Marines before a move with his family to Brazoria County, Texas in 1949. This began his career with Dow Chemical Company, retiring as Captain of Security after 39 years of service. Clyde was a 53 year resident of Lake Jackson, Texas and a member of First Baptist Church of Clute. He and Joicey enjoyed many years of travel in their retirement and spent the last 7 years in north Texas near their children.

Preceded in death by his parents and only sister, Lessie Mae Ferguson. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joicey Moore of Dallas; three sons, Bill Moore and wife Anita of Rockwall, Texas, Alden Moore and wife Billie of Granbury, Texas, Kevin Moore of Yalaha, Florida; one daughter, Mary Medders and husband David of Dallas, Texas; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Attn: Development Dept., 2222 Welborn, Dallas, Texas 75219.
