David E. Busby, Sr. (Dave) went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with a pulmonary embolism. The family will receive friends' noon until service time 2pm Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church; 300 Willow Drive; Lake Jackson, Texas77566. Interment will be at the Magee Cemetery in Magee Mississippi. Graveside services will be 4pm Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Magee Cemetery with Rev. Rob Hill officiating.

Dave E. Busby was born Feb. 4, 1943 in Quitman, Mississippi. He graduated from Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi, and continued his education at Mississippi State University where he received his degree in Chemical Engineering. While in college, he was elected President of his fraternity Phi Kappa Tau. He also met the love of his life, Kay Caughman. In 1965 he started sharing a beautiful journey through life for the last 48 ½ years.

Dave and Kay moved to Lake Jackson, Tx. where he was employed at Dow Chemical Company from 1965 until his retirement in 1997. While employed at Dow, he developed several patents including a fire two boiler and a Sorbathene solvent vapor recovery process amongst others which are still critical to business at Dow Chemical.

Dave loved the Lord and enjoyed serving him with full and open membership in Chapelwood United Methodist Church where he and Kay where members for many years. He was an active member in the Methodist Men's group and enjoyed cooking for the Emmaus group.

Dave loved the outdoors. He passed this passion to his children and grandchildren in many ways. He was active in the Boy Scouts with his sons, serving as Philmont Scout Leader and Bay Area Council Commissioner, as well as a member of the Sweetwater Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. Taking his grandchildren crabbing and fishing filled his heart with joy. He will be greatly missed, but his love and passion for the outdoors will live on.

He is preceded in death by his father David Busby, his mother Edie Busby, sister, Dorothy Busby, and brother James Busby.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Kay Busby,
two sons, David E. Busby, Jr. and wife Stephanie Busby, and Barry Bryce Busby and wife Evelyn Busby.
four grandchildren; Peyton Busby, Mariah Busby, Meghan Busby, and Miles David-James Busby,
one brother, Gary Busby.

Kay, David and Bryce, I just now saw this so many years later. I had tried to find an address for you all to no avail. I am so sad to see this and I had no idea. I would love to have Kay's contact to connect. Dave was such a good friend, the years that we lived in Lake Jackson...so many fond and fun memories. Nita Lynch Jan. 29, 2019

Kay, have been trying to "find" you on the internet and found this.... am so distraught for you. I read about Nancy, too. I have no words to offer, I'm afraid. I lost my "little" sister, Sharon, 3 years ago to a massive arachnoid stroke and burst aneurism.... the loss is still devastating to me. I love you, Kay...... I hope you'll email me.... or call me (904) 276-1049. I've been in touch with Chicki Atwell lately........... Prayers in motion for you! ♥

Sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I worked with Dave at Dow for several years and always enjoyed being around him. Kay, I don't know if you remember, but my wife and I visited with you and Dave several times at some functions at the Center for the Arts after I retired from Dow.
