Frances Bland Duncan, 91, of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away, Thursday, January 9, 2014. The family will receive friends 2:30pm until service time 3pm Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. D. O. Foster officiating.

She was born Nov. 15, 1922 in Frankston, Texas to Francis George Bland and Thelma Ora Garner Bland. She taught at Elisabet Ney Elementary School for 26 years (1957-1983).

Frances was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson since 1956. She was a member of the Brazosport Association of Retired Teachers, Scholarship Coordinator for the Brazosport Regional Hospital, Founder of the Volunteer Program at Shriners Childrens Hospital in Galveston, and a long term member of the Daughters of the Nile. Frances also volunteered as a pink lady at Brazosport Hospital for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James Homer Duncan, her parents, and a son-in-law, John Ellis.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Donna Williams, and husband Jerald Dan of Wimberley, Texas, Barbara Ellis of Spring Branch, Texas,3 grandchildren: Kimberly Mertens and husband Joe,John Duncan Ellis and wife Kathryn, and Kelley Williams,
6 great grandchildren: Carlton James and Emily Frances Mertens,
John Michael, Joshua Ryan, Jason Patrick, and Jackson Bryan Ellis.
