Walter Owen Brown, 89, of Lake Jackson had his "glad morning" to "fly away" to his Lord Jesus on Feb. 20, 2014. He was born to Lillie Marie and Walter Owen Brown, Sr. on December 20, 1924. Owen worked very hard from a very young age to support his family. He was the builder and owner of Sportsman Boat and RV storage for many years. With sweet humility Owen took great delight in serving God and others especially through his local fellowship with the Lake Jackson Church of Christ. Owen was also a member of Brazoria Masonic Lodge # 327 and the Brazoria Lions Club. He was a Master Mason for over fifty years.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant great grand daughters; three younger brothers: Glenn, Roger, and Wayne Brown, 2 infant sisters:
Violet and Viola.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Nell Patton Brown of Lake Jackson, three children: Kenneth Brown of Lake Jackson,Sheila Johnson and her husband Clyde of Lexington, Texas,Karen Neal and her husband Dan of Denton, Texas,
8 grandchildren,8 great grandchildren,2 great great grandchildren,and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 2pm until service time 3pm Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the Church of Christ; 402 Center Way; Lake Jackson, Texas 77566 with Allen Ritchie and Scott McKay officiating.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders and deacons of the Church of Christ.

Interment will be at the Old Zion Cemetery in Kennard, Texas.

Owen Brown was the most kind, gentle man I ever knew. He was always helpful in any way that he could help, no matter the task. He was always upbeat and a friend to all.

He will be missed by so many people. He and Nell had a wonderful 40 years together; God did bless them.
