Sophie Albina Kutach Ezell, 86, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She was the eldest of 11 living children born May 10, 1927 in El Campo, Texas to Vencil Joe and Ludmilla Mary "Millie" Kutach who's families had immigrated from Austria and Czechoslovakia.
Sophie was a 60-year resident of Clute, Texas, living in the same home where they moved when her fifth child Larry was born. Sophie was a beautiful Child of God, gracious, kind, compassionate and giving woman, loving and caring Mom for all her family to look to and learn from. She "helped raise" her 10 younger siblings while her Mom picked cotton and her Dad farmed. She and Graham then raised their six children to be Godly people. Sophie was a blessing from God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years Graham Franklin Ezell in 2007; sons William James Ezell in 1987 and Robert Franklin Ezell in 1995, great-granddaughter Darianne Whitehead in 2005; son-in-law Andy Holley in 2006. Also, brothers and sister: Louis Kutach, V. J. Kutach, Mary Kutach Orsak and Ervin Kutach.

Sophie is survived by brothers: Leon Kutach, Adolph Kutach, Eugene Kutach, Stanley Kutach and Daniel Kutach and sisters: Lillie Mae Pustejovsky and Evelyn Stavinoha.

Other survivors are four children: daughters Martha Turner (George), of Lake Jackson, Clara Holley of Clute, Barbara Frost (Bill) of Traskwood, Arkansas and son Larry Ezell (Sherrie) of Lake Jackson; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. On the day Sophie left this life, her youngest granddaughter was giving birth to her newest great-grandchild Owen Wigren.

A Rosary and visitation were held Friday at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at Sophie's long-time church home St. Jerome Catholic Church, 201N. Lazy Lane, Clute with Rev. James F. Lynes, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sophie's honor to: St. Jerome Catholic Church, 201 N. Lazy Lane, Clute, TX 77531 or SPCA of Brazoria County, 141 Canna Lane, Lake Jackson, TX 77566 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

I am so sorry to all my cousins for the loss of your dear momma. I have so many fond memories of Aunt Sophie and the time we lived near in Clute. She had such a jovial personality and I loved to hear her laugh! You all are in my prayers.
