Nellie Ruth (Dellaughter) Sharpes, 79 of Lake Jackson, went to be with the Lord on Jun 4, 2014 at Oak Village Nursing Home. She was born April 30, 1935, in LaFeria, TX to Marcus and Montie Dellaughter.

She graduated from Hamilton High School and moved to Lake Jackson after marring Troy Sharpes.

Nellie Ruth was an active member of Second Baptist Church in Lake Jackson working with the children in the nursery. She also worked for J.C. Penney, Joskey's and Dillards retiring in 1994.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Troy Sharpes and son Steven Sharpes, sisters Mary Kelly, Dorthy Cody, Nina Shimek, Molly Greever; brothers M.V. Dellaughter, and David Dellaughter.

Survivors include her daughter Pam Koelemay and husband Breck, granddaughters Shannon Koelemay and Alyssa Koelemay of Lake Jackson. She is also survived by her sister Betty (James) Miller of Benbrook, TX, brothers, Robert Dellaughter of Hamilton, TX, and Bill (Margie) Dellaughter of Ponder, TX; and longtime friends Bill Sarles Sr., of Lake Jackson, Bill (Cynthia) Sarles of Keller, TX, Allen Sarles of Brazoria, TX, Beth Sarles and Darryl Keith of Kingwood, TX.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Second Baptist Church of lake Jackson officiated by Gary Thornton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Allen, Robert McClain, Bill Sarles, Sr., Allen Sarles, Bill Sarles.

The family would like to thank Oak Village Nursing Home, Helping Hands and Heart Hospice, and Gary and Debbie Thornton.
