Funeral Services for Frankie Nankervis, age 92, of Lake Jackson, Texas will be held at 10AM Saturday on September 6th at the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson with Pastor Chad Alexander officiating. The family will receive friends the previous evening at Lakewood Funeral Chapel from 5PM to 7PM on Friday September 5th. Frankie was born in Mount Enterprise, Texas in 1922 to Mr. Robert S. Flanagan and Mrs. Eula Mae (Lawler) Flanagan. In 1939 she attended the College of Marshall, now known as East Texas Baptist University. In 1942 she married her husband of 50 years Byron Nankervis, and they moved to Freeport, Texas where Byron landed a job at a defense plant. In July 1943, their son Gerald (Jerry) was born at the Dow Magnesium Corporation Hospital in Velasco, Texas. In August of that same year, the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson was organized with 121 charter members, including Frankie and Byron. Frankie and Byron both retired from Dow in the 1980s, and Frankie went on to lead the Dow Retirees Association. She was also active as a volunteer school teacher. Frankie and Byron loved to travel, and they visited many exotic locations. Frankie is preceded in death by her husband Byron and her son Jerry. She is survived by her grandson Colin Nankervis of Houston. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to either the First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson or the National Alzheimer's Association. Final arrangements by the Turner Family at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel (979) 297-6464, and online condolences may be made to the family at www.lakewoodfuneralchapel.com.

I took care of Frankie when she was living in Lake Jackson. I enjoyed her stories & laughter & her heart. Her kindness shown through even though Alzheimers had taken some of her memories or she was confused. She did still remember enjoyable times & places & people. She loved her adoptive son and grandson. My condolence to all as I carry her memory in my heart.
