Rhonda Lynn Davis Owen, 53, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away
peacefully at home on November 10, 2014. She was born February 17,
1961, in Madison, Wisconsin, to William and Billye Enos Davis. The
family moved to Santa Monica, California, then Fort Worth, Texas, and
finally to San Antonio, Texas. She was baptized at and became a member
of Castle Hills Baptist Church and completed high school at John
Marshall, where she was active in band and other activities. In high
school, Rhonda was also a winner in the Miss Teenage America Pageant
held in San Antonio, where she was selected for her intelligence,
poise, talent, and beauty out of a field of 400 girls. Prizes included
being named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. After
high school she attended the University of Texas at San Antonio.

She married Mark E. Owen on April 29, 1988. The couple made their
home in San Antonio and welcomed their son William Brooks Owen to the
world on June 3, 1994. In 2003, the Owen family moved to Lake Jackson,
where Rhonda was employed at several local businesses, the most recent
being Luby's Cafeteria. Rhonda will be remembered by everyone she
encountered for her warmth and her sense of humor; she made life-long
friendships that she maintained in person and on Facebook.
Rhonda is survived by her husband and son, her parents, her sister
Sandra Davis McQuilkin and her husband, Kyle McQuilkin, of Lubbock,
and her sister Victoria Davis and her husband, Eric Lupfer, of Austin.

A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel at 98 N.
Dixie Dr. in Lake Jackson on Monday, November 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.

Those we love leave us gifts in the form of memories that no one can take away. Wisdom that we can still recall. These are the things that we will cherish forever. May the family continue to look to Almighty God for comfort during this most stressful time since "He is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18. My condolence to you.

Rhonda was a strong lady and fought a valiant fight against the vengeance of this awful disease. She is no longer suffering now and can rest in her new, eternal body. We can find comfort in this even though we will miss her. Her memory will live on in our family. We love you, Rhonda.

Rhonda graced me with her friendship in 2007, where she began working at The Avenue with me. Ever since then, we became really close friends. My heart is heavy with Rhonda's passing, I can't even begin to describe how I feel. But while her family and friends were left behind to mourn and hurt, Rhonda is now peaceful, cancer-free, and in Heaven with our Lord, and I know she's better off for that. I love you, so much, my Rhonda Poo! I can't wait to see you again! <3
