Norman E. Mason passed away March 15, 2015 at the age of 89. He was born September 6, 1925 in Talihina, OK and spent most of his youth in North Louisiana. He worked in the oil fields and as a fishing guide on Caddo Lake. He met his bride there when she played piano and he led the singing at their Baptist church. They were married 63 years. After his service in the Navy during WWII where he served in the Pacific, they moved to Lake Jackson in 1951 as newlyweds. He worked for DOW Chemical for 30 years in the Styrene Dept. He took early retirement at the age of 56 to begin another career renovating over 30 homes. He enjoyed travelling around the world before a stroke paralyzed him in 2009.

Norman is survived by his wife Jimmie and their 2 children-Mavis (married to Jim McDermott of Kilgore) and Alvin (Ft. Worth) and one brother, Raymond of Oil City LA.

He was preceded in death by one son James "Jay" (married to Diane of Waco), a grandson Chris and two siblings. He had 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was lovingly attended by 2 caregivers - Sarah Garcia and Linda Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Patton, Roy Taylor, Larry Cornell, Rocky Martinez, Leroy Breaux, Ed Birdsong.

Funeral Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 20015 in Lake Jackson. Interment will be on Friday March 20, 2015 in Kilgore Texas. The family will receive friends before the funeral at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
