Wesley Wayne Eddleman

memorial service for Wesley "Wes" Eddleman, age 66, of Lake Jackson, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alan Trafford officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel before the service. A Masonic ceremony will follow the message.

Wes was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on June 29, 1945, to Jim and Geneva Eddleman. He grew up in Gruver, Texas, and graduated from high school in 1963. He attended Texas Tech on a track scholarship where he studied business and broadcasting. He was sports directory at KBTX/KWTX television in the Bryan/Waco area and later worked with KPRZ radio in Brazosport as a broadcaster.

Wes was employed in industrial sales for the last 35 years for companies in the Houston, Texas City and Brazosport areas.

He enjoyed playing golf and participating in tournaments. He loved travel, flying and as a true "Coach's son" all sports. He loved working with his son "Robbie's" school activities including LJI choir trips and the Brazoswood golf team. He was active with Cub Scouts and served as Cubmaster at the LJ First United Methodist Church where he helped teach Sunday School. He traveled with his wife Carolyn's class on field trips with Ney Elementary and was always ready to help family and friends when needed.

Survivors include his wife of almost 33 years, Carolyn Eddleman, son, Robert Eddleman; his wife's parents, Leslie and Robert McClerkin, all of Lake Jackson; his sister, Janet Wommack and husband, Lee; niece, LeAnn Rothermel and husband, Ryan; nephew, Jim Edd Wommack and wife, Carmen, and four great-nieces; stepdaughter, Karyn Wilkes Jewell and grandchildren, Allie Riechers and Caleb Jewell.

The family would like to express their appreciation to everyone for their support during these last weeks. We thank Drs. Falcon and Bonner and their staffs at the Brazosport Cancer Center where Wes received treatment since November and appreciate the loving care of our hospice workers.
