Aniceto Escobedo 63, of Freeport, passed away on the evening of September 21, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Born in October 1957, he was the youngest of seven children to the late Aniceto Escobedo and Consuelo Gallardo Escobedo.

He was married to the love of his life, Maria Ines Escobedo for 48 years. They had four children together. A man of many trades, he specialized in roofing, and construction. But his life's true enjoyment was being out at sea on a shrimping boat.

Aniceto, also known to many as "Shorty", was a man who never met a stranger. He sincerely enjoyed meeting people and helping others whenever he could. He knew the value of hard work, and until the day his illness took over, he could be seen actively working on roof tops, or working on various construction projects throughout town. He could easily be described as generous, high spirited, and tenacious. He loved his family deeply, especially his six grandchildren. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, and his children: Jose Escobedo, Armando (Frances) Escobedo, Virginia Escobedo, and Ines (Steven) Hood; grandchildren: Adrian and Yaneli Escobedo, Thane Escobedo, Malik and Mia Berlanga, and Travis Hood; siblings: Graciela, Josephina, Librada, Bertha, Javier, and Fernando. And many loving nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Aniceto (1984), and his mother, Consuelo (1996).

At his request, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on October 2, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Iglesia E. Cristo de Poder 1320 N. Ave H Freeport, TX 77541 with Pastor Jose Jaime Rodriguez officiating. Interment will be held at Angleton Cemetery.
