Amy Alene Coffee was born on December 11, 1923 to Nobie and Jack Warner Hendrix in a small town in Comanche County called Sidney, Texas and she died April 13, 2011 in Lake Jackson, Texas at the age of 87.
Alene was a very kind and loving person. She always enjoyed her family time, especially holidays, when everyone would gather together to celebrate.
She enjoyed growing up on a farm when times were simple. There were no computers or television so she was active in sports. She played softball and volleyball and was quite good.

Alene was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, having joined the church in her teen years. She treasured the many friends she made there.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents, Nobie & Jack Hendrix; husband Lenard L. Coffee, Sir,; brother, Jack Wendril Hendrix; and sister, Maidee Hendrix Wheeler; grand daughter-in-law Laura Bundick Coffee.
She is survived by her sons, Lennie Coffee and wife Vickie, Wendell Coffee and wife Sue, both of Clute, Texas; daughter, Gay Huntsman and husband Roy Fuller, of Fancy Gap, Virginia; five grandchildren: Mark Coffee of Lake Jackson, Nicole Coffee Tyler and husband Charles of Angleton, Texas; Kristin Coffee Freeman and husband Craig of Kingwood, Texas, Kevin Coffee and wife Tami of Dublin, California, Wendy Coffee of San Francisco, California, ten great-grandchildren, Morgan Coffee, Devin Coffee, Megan Bundick, Jordan Tyler, Reagan Tyler, Colby Freeman, Collin Freeman, Corbin Freeman, Giavanna Coffee Corona and husband Steven, Kevin Coffee, Jr., and one great great grandchild Peyton Bundick.
The family extends its sincere thanks to Dr. Howard Laroche, all the caregivers and nurses at Plantation Healthcare Center, and A-MED Hospice.
The family will receive friends 6pm until 8pm Friday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be 10am Saturday, April 16, 2011 with Doug Raymer officiating.
