Funeral services for Rena Allene Johnston, 88, of Clute will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sidney Watson officiating. The family will receive guests at Lakewood on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

On March 29, 1923, Allene was born the third of four children to William Sherman and Rena (Anderson) Oliver in Randlett, Oklahoma. She was a baby when the Oliver family moved to Texas. She began school in Wells and due to frequent family moves, also attended schools in Simpson Town, Ratcliff, Shepherd and Dolen.

In October 1940, she married David Floyd "Buster" Johnston in Shepherd. Their first son was born in Livingston, and soon after his birth, the young family moved to Clute where a second son was born in the old Freeport hospital.

Allene left the physical limitations of this life and began her new life on June 28, 2011. She is preceded in death by Buster, her parents, two brothers, Helton and Clyde Oliver, and her son, Floyd Allen.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Janice of Lake Jackson, Floyd's wife, Linda of Corinth, TX, three grandsons, Mike (Stephanie) of Magnolia, Casey (Monique) of Austin, and Troy of Carrollton. She also leaves five great-granddaughters, Tasha and Brittany Johnston of Plano, Rachel and Cori Johnston of Magnolia and Allie Johnston of Carrolton; two great-great grandsons, Tony and Benjamin Orosco of Plano; and sister, Irene Davis Adams of Emmet, Arkansas, formerly of Angleton. Numerous nieces and nephews are also left to mourn her loss.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Mike, Casey and Troy Johnston, and nephews Richard and Roger Davis of Emmet, Arkansas and Milton Fenley, friend of West Columbia.

The family wishes to extend a special heart felt thanks to Dr. Alkesh Amin, the staff at Woodlake Nursing Center and A-Med Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of our loved one.

Memorials may be sent to First Assembly of God Church, P. O. Box 1147, Clute, TX 77531
